They’re Here

I wandered into the Borders in Chevy Chase, DC (Friendship Heights, for those geographically in the know). First, I saw my pretty little book sitting on the new trade paperback table. Wahoo!!! The hubby took a photo via his cell phone. Here it is:

Gorgeous, isn’t it?

Second, I bought the Crusie/Mayer release Don’t Look Down. Yeah, it’s out. Go get ‘em.

Third, I bought Jill Monroe’s newest, Share the Darkness. I don’t know Jill, but she seems cool. And, she’s Booksquare’s cp, and I like Booksquare, so…

Fourth, I ate at the Cheesecake Factory. I never talk about what I eat, so I thought now might be a good time to fit this in.

Fifth, I almost bought the following but was too much in awe by seeing my book on the shelves to concentrate on getting them right now. Will get them later. I promise:

-Three by Noelle Mack
-The Booster by Jennifer Solow
-A Most Uncommon Degree of Popularity by Karen Gilles Sidel

It was also in the Borders in Northridge, CA last night on the trade paperback table — a copy is now in my TBR pile.

[...] Most of this week’s words were written at Borders on Friday, armed with the chocolate foofy drink. This was an especially welcome treat because I did not allow myself the pleasure of a snickerdoodle on Tuesday because, hey, almost no words written. What was also welcome was finding a copy of When Good Things Happen to Bad Boys with stories by Lori Foster, Erin McCarthy and HelenKay Dimon. This is HelenKay’s debut work, and I’m looking forward to reading it. True confession time — she’s the real reason I bought the book. While I’m sure I’ll enjoy the other stories, the authors aren’t on my auto buy list, so if I hadn’t had an interest in reading the story by someone whose blog I enjoy, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up. With “tbr” as the most used tag on my Library Thing account (currently at 145 books), I’m trying to be a bit more selective in my buying. If the back blurb grabs me, great. If it comes down to a choice between two or three, the factor of “is it someone whose blog I enjoy?” definitely counts.   [...]

I read it and loved it. All three stories were great.

Thank you! I’m thrilled you liked it.

    1. Must eat more cheesecake.
    2. Must insist The Booster promise is kept asap!
    3. Must reciprocate. (I spell-checked that).

Can I entice you just a little more…I did 3 years of research with rich lady shoplifters and with the FBI researching South American shoplfting rings. I promise juicy, juicy stuff and a dark and twisted character. If you’re not sucked in by the first page, I will buy you an entire cheesecake and come share it with you. Well..that actually doesn’t sound all that bad…hmm…

    Much thanks for the mention.
    xx,
Jennifer Solow, author of The Booster

No one appreciates a cheesecake bribe like I do… But, Jennifer, you are too late. I already kept that promise and purchased your book. I had to snap out of my trance-like state at having seen my book on the shelves first. That took about a week. After that, I could go into a bookstore and buy books rather than just stare at mine. Pathetic, I know. I claim “debut book” disease.

Three years of research? Okay, everyone else follow my lead and go buy Jennifer’s book. Now. It’s my next read after Deadly Housewives.
