Not The Usual Stuff

This I get:

FICTION: WOMEN’S/ROMANCE
Jennifer Estep’s KARMA GIRL, the humorous adventures of an intrepid Lois Lane-style reporter whose forte is unmasking — and sometimes disrobing — America’s most illustrious superheroes, to Cindy Hwang at Berkley, in a two-book deal, by Kelly Harms at Jane Rotrosen Agency (NA).

This I don’t:

FICTION: MYSTERY/CRIME
Actress Adrienne Barbeau and Irish author Michael Scott’s THE VAMPIRES OF HOLLYWOOD, about a policeman searching for a Hollywood murderer, and the horror film actress/vampire who helps him, and VAMPIRES OF BROADWAY, to Erin Brown at Thomas Dunne Books, by Jane Dystel of Dystel & Goderich Literary Management.

Adrienne Barbeau? Maude, Love Boat and Fantasy Island - that Adrienne Barbeau?

And, for the record, I was about 10 years old when she appeared on those shows…

Adrienne Barbeau was married to one of the kings of horror/comedy movies, John Carpenter. She acted in many of his movies, including Swamp Thing, The Thing, The Fog, and the cult classic, Escape from New York.

I imagine she learned a thing or two about horror stories during that time. She’s always seemed like a smart, funny dame, and, while known for other assets, she also has great comic timing.

    Hi,Helen -
Just wanted to let you know the books arrived the other day – already read one! Thank you so very much for your generosity; the extra book was a very nice surprise.

I too enjoyed Adrienne Barbeau on Maude.

    Karen – You’re welcome!

Anna – I can honestly say I didn’t know Adrienne Barbeau was married to John Carpenter. I may have known at one point then forgot – who knows. My memories of her are from movies and TV shows, including Maude. Then a 20-year silence. Looks as if she’s been working all along and I missed it.

    Helen,

Adrienne just came out with her memoir as well recently, and she’s now married to a rather prolific playwright, Billy Van Zandt. She also had twins at 51, so there’s nothing this woman can’t do!
