A Little Tweaking

The cover flats for YOUR MOUTH DRIVES ME CRAZY arrived on my doorstep at the end of last week. The cover truly is gorgeous, even more so in person. The actual one is a bit different from the original. In my view, it’s even prettier. The art department did a fabulous job.

When I read Meljean’s blog over the weekend, I saw that her upcoming cover (June ‘07) got a small update too. She posted photos of hers. I thought that was cool, so I’m posting mine:

Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy

The new one is on the right. The pink of her shoulder in this photo and the one on Amazon is more pronounced than on the live version. I’m thinking the sepia tones didn’t translate all that well into photos. The updated cover also highlights the correct spelling of my name, which is just the best news ever.

So, yes, go order with abandon.** You need to own it and hold it to see what I mean about the pink. None of this just fondling it in the stores stuff. Go pre-order.

**Regular blog readers may notice how my promo plan for 2007 closely resembles my promo plan from 2006 - begging.

I like the second one better…love the font and the colors…and it’s so sexy! :)

Congratulations Helen, they look fabulous. That guy’s hot!

Love the updated look — it always fascinates me to see the changes made in the covers, because it really must be all marketing and catching the eyes, so it’s a nice little glimpse at the details that the art departments think make a difference (and I think they’re probably right, in most cases).

And your promo plan pretty much matches mine. *big puppy eyes - read my book*

I agree with eveyrone, the second cover is much better. Adding to the book list.

You are so funny. Cant wait for the book to come out.

Thanks guys! I love the updated version, too. Just ignore the fact the hero on the cover isn’t Hawaiian (and he is in the book) and the heroine on the cover isn’t a redhead (and she is in the book). Don’t really care since I love the cover so much.

Pat - I don’t collect coverflats either. Some people do. Mostly, tho, I send them to booksellers as part of the begging promo plan idea.

I probably wouldn’t have noticed, but when you put them next to each other, the 2nd one does look better. And I like how they changed the font on your name. Can’t wait for it!
