New To Me
Somehow - probably by clicking on link after link - I ended up at a blog called I “Heart” Harlequin Presents. As you can probably tell from the name, it’s a blog relating to the category line, Harlequin Presents. The authors are listed. Editors blog. People stop by and chat.
What really struck me was this statement from the initial blog post back in February: “This blog is your chance to get to the heart of the world’s best-selling romance series!” I’ve never read a single book in this line. In fact, looking at the list of authors, the only one I’ve read is Lucy Monroe and that’s her Bravas, not her category romance. I feel as if I’m missing something. I hate that.
Anyone have a recommendation?

Well, I like some of Lucy Monroe’s Presents, but really, they’re more of a guilty pleasure than a really really good read.
Oops, that’s a lot of reallys. But think Greek tycoons, alpha males who may or may not be jerks depending on your view, and women who could be stronger. Yet some stories do make it work.

Presents are a guilty pleasure read for me, but I end up liking very few of them because I always hate the heroines. Yet I keep buying them, lolol. I do like some of Lucy’s Presents. She had a trilogy called the Royal Brides trilogy that I enjoyed. Full disclosure: I contracted her for three books for Samhain, but I’d recommend those books even if I hadn’t
I know a few people who swear by Jane Porter’s Presents. I don’t care for them but others love them.
I usually just look for anything that has Greek in the title. Yes, I love me some alpha Greek males (in theory only).

I like Lucy Monroe but I have never read another one of them

You know, I’ve never read a Presents either…and I like alpha alphas. I might have to go procrastinate more by checking out a few on Amazon…

I’ve read about half of the authors listed on that site. I’d try Sandra Marton, Kate Walker, Susan Stephens or Trish Morey.

I love Presents! Lucy Monroe’s are great, Kate Walker is fabulous. Check out The Italian’s Forced Bride. Tycoons, revenge, blackmail, secret babies, Presents are full of ‘em. They are pure escapist fantasy fun! And very driven by sexual tension and angst.

Love Lucy’s books! Some of the HPs are hit or miss, even favorite authors. I’ve enjoyed some of Jane Porter’s, then found one I didn’t care for because the heroine came across as weak and needy. Sara Craven, Carole Mortimer and Penny Jordan - same thing. Like the others said here, they’re hit or miss. I like Lucy’s cuz she does the unexpected with the line - talks about serious issues or gives us heroines who don’t fit the mold - I like that.

I have never read a Presents book. I tend to prefer the full sized books.

I also have not read any of these (I don’t think I have…I may have and not realized it since I don’t remember books by the ‘line’ they are in)

I love to read Presents for a short read. You know the one when you know that you don’t have enough time to finish a long story, you want something you can read in one day. The characters are always intriguing and exciting. You get the plot within the first chapter and you feel satisfied at the end of the book. Love that.

I have read books by Susan Stephens, Lucy Monroe and Jane Porter. They write great stories that don’t take long to read for those times when you have limited reading time.

Thanks everyone! Sounds as if Lucy is a Harlequin Presents favorite. You’ve given me some other names to try too. Maybe I can pick up a book or two at RT and start there.

I adore Presents. They were the first romance novels I ever read, and know that’s why I target my own writing toward Harlequin.
Lucy Monroe is of course, fabulous. Trish Morey is wonderful and I never, ever miss a book by Julia James.

I’ve read Harlequins since my teens. When you don’t have alot of time but want to read, they provide just the perfect fix.
