MySpace: The Fav Authors Edition

I’ve discovered new authors and upcoming releases while paging through MySpace friends. I’ve also gotten reacquainted with some old favs. Two authors I follow and wait for “coming soon” news have new releases to share. Here they are:

First up is Crazy in Love by Lani Diane Rich. Lani is one of those authors you can count on for a smart, humorous and romantic tale. I think of her in the same vein as Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Yeah, Lani is good.

The copy goes like this:

She’s on the rocks.

Flynn Daly needs a drink. Under the crush of family guilt, she’s agreed to move out of her dangerous South Boston neighborhood and join the family business. Her first assignment: running the inn left by a deceased aunt Flynn’s never even heard of. The problem? It’s in the middle of the country where there’s nature and bugs and no public transport; her dead aunt is haunting her dreams; and the hotel’s bartender is making her lose her mind… in more ways than one.

Make it a double.

When bartender Jake Tucker’s beloved boss meets an untimely end, he intends to find out who’s behind it. If cozying up to the eccentric niece gets him the information he needs, so be it. But once he gets close to that wild hair and captivating smile, he decides that some things are more fun with a partner… even if she sees dead people. After all, for a woman like Flynn, he’d be nuts not to go for it.

Crazy In Love: Last call on sanity.

Second is Obsession, Deceit And Really Dark Chocolate by Kyra Davis. This is the third in the chick lit mystery series following the lovable Sophie Katz. Adore these books. Adore Sophie. Adore Anatoly. Better see a happy ending of some sort for Sophie and Anatoly soon…

The cover copy:

Sophie Katz’s relationship with the irresistible and occasionally insufferable P.I. Anatoly Darinsky is on the fritz when a friend recruits Sophie’s investigation skills to decode her possibly two-timing husband’s strange behavior. When Sophie shows up in a short, red cocktail dress and her friend’s hubby winds up dead, the loveable would-be sleuth can’t help but take on the job.

Suddenly plunged into a crazy world of campaign mudslinging, dirt-digging and cover-ups, Sophie begins to uncover some pretty dirty secrets indeed- involving a conservative congressional hopeful’s involvement in the Furry community, a group of people who dress up in mascot-size stuffed animal costumes. Sex and politics, wouldn’t you know?

Way in over her head as usual, Sophie reluctantly-or not-so-reluctantly- enlists the help of her two-time sidekick and ex-Anatoly. Together they set out to determine who killed Eugene and why, and in the process can’t resist falling for each other-again?

Anyone try these?

I’ll have to look at these next weekend when I’m in the bookstore again. I don’t think I’ve read books by either author. Hope you had an awesome birthday weekend.

The Rich book looks good. Like both covers. And yes, you can always count on SEP for a great read usually with a good deal of humor.

  3. Estella Says:

I have read books by Rich, but not this one.

Haven’t tried these yet, but I love SEP, so I’ll have to look up Lani Rich! Thanks for the suggestions! :)

I recently read the first in Kyra Davis’s series and loved it. Have only read one Lani Diane Rich, but loved it, too. Thanks for the recommendations!

  7. Rhonda Catrett Says:

I have not read either one of these authors, but anyone that puts the words “dark chocolate” in their title must be really good. :)

  8. Kimberley Says:

I agree with you, these are great books. There are sooo many books out there to read and it seems so little time to do it. I really appreciate the hard work all you authors put into your books. Thank you

  9. Suzanne Bischoff Says:

Davis’ book looks interesting, sort of reminds me of Stevie Mittman”s book. Happy belated birthday and many more. Suzanne

I reviewed the Kyra Davis one. That was my first book by her. I wasn’t that thrilled with it. The characters felt kind of flat.

  11. Susan Says:

So many good books, so little money!! :(

  12. Mad Says:

I have the Rich book coming to me from Amazon soon. I’ve been hounding my bookstore for it for days and they don’t have it so I finally got tired of asking and came online and ordered it.
