Everlasting Love

My hubby’s birthday is tomorrow. Our 9th wedding anniversary was last week. So, this seems like a good time to talk about the first romance anthology I ever read - Everlasting Love by Linda Howard, Jayne Ann Krentz, Linda Lael Miller, Carla Neggers and Kasey Michaels. Appropriate title, isn’t it?

The synopsis goes like this:

An omnibus of novels by Jayne Ann Krentz, Linda Howard, Linda Lael Miller, Carla Neggers, Kasey Michaels. New York Times Bestseller. Savor the magic of love everlasting with five new tales of romance and intrigue from your favorite romance authors. In contemporary Washington, treachery ignites an unlikely affair of the heart. In 1880s Montana, an abandoned bride searches for her love. A traveling film star discovers the role and the passion of a lifetime in an English regency manor. In places far and near, exotic and familiar, love is timeless — and everlasting.

I stumbled onto this one because I had read Jayne Ann Krentz’ Perfect Partners and was busy racing through her backlist. I had barely started reading romance and had never read a romance anthology when I found this. My thought was to read the JAK novella, skim the others and continue on with my JAK obsession. Then I read Linda Howard’s novella, Lake of Dreams. The story is about two people who have been doomed lovers throughout time and meet in what could be their last time to get it right. Well, I loved it. Suddenly my romance reading world opened up from the three romance authors I first read - JAK, LL Miller and Julie Garwood - to include these new authors. It was one of those “well, duh” life-changing moments when I realized there was even more great stuff out there, more great authors for me to find.

And now I write novellas…

I met JAK at the Emerald City Writer’s Conference this year. She is really great in person and very inspiring. It looks like you are doing well in your writing and I look forward to reading your novellas. I write shorter as well (mostly because of my kids ages at the moment) and one day hope to be where you are. Thank you for inspiring others the way you were inspired.

And happy birthday to your dh! :-D

Anthologies are so good at discovering other Authors that you would like to read. Ones that you would normally not know about. Happy Birthday to your DH and belated Anniversary wishes.

I agree with Cryna and that anthologies are a good way to get to know new authors that you might not heard about or not sure about reading one of their books. Have a safe happy holidays and new year

I was just checking out your site last night and reading the excerpt to “Your Mouth Drives Me Crazy” Child, I broke into a sweat..LOL..I had my daughter order me the book, then I took a shower.*Wink* Just joking, but dang that scene was good. Makes you want to buy a boat and look for a real strong man before you fake a woman over board…Have a great day and I can’t wait to read your work. I think I am going to love your novellas.

I can’t remember the first anthology that I read but I agree that it’s a great way to find new authors. A lot of times I’ve bought it for one particular author and then found others that I enjoyed too. Birthday, anniversary and Chirstmas all in one month - enjoy!!!!!
