Ian Fleming Lives

Actually, Ian Fleming is dead. That’s not news. He died in the 60s. For those who can’t place the name, he’s the guy who wrote the James Bond books. His estate picked a guy to write a new Bond book. His name is Sebastian Faulks. He’s considered more of a literary writer than a thriller writer, but cool for him. The book is called DEVIL MAY CARE.

I read somewhere that it’s selling really well, which is not a surprise. Haven’t bought it, but I did read an excerpt in last month’s Vanity Fair. Have to say I didn’t love it. That could be because I’m on deadline and probably slightly less charming that usual. You guys can give it a try and see what you think:

I am sooo looking forward to reading this because I am such a Bond fangirl. I have all the books, and I’ve seen all the movies too many times to count. I drive my significant other crazy with my Bond knowledge. ;-)

The Quantum of Solace trailer is online now too. It looks awesome. Here’s that link: http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?vid=253585.

Is it sad I’m counting down the days to Nov. 7 when the movie comes out?

I love Bond, but Faulks seems an odd and not entirely welcome choice. I hated Charlotte Gray.

I’m not a big fan of James Bond, but this book sounds really interesting. It might be worth getting as an audio book for my brother since he tracked down every single Bond movie, even when he had to purchase a 3-pack to get the last one and end up with two copies of the other two.

I love the Bond movies, but have never actually read any of the books. I guess at some point I need to give the books a try.
