Change For The Better
I’ve read and enjoyed Kimberly Raye’s humorous series featuring vampire matchmaker Lil Marchette. I did think the first few books suffered from bad covers. And I know she doesn’t pick the covers, so don’t write and lecture me on that fact. I get it. Believe me, I get that.
My only point was that I picked up the first book despite the cover. The first few in the series were cartoon covers, which I usually like, but these didn’t work for me. The newest installment in the series is called Just One Bite and the cover has a very different feel. It’s more eye-catching and contemporary. I’m still not sure I love it, but I’m thinking the art department made a smart choice to change the direction.

Any preference…?

Hm… you know, I almost like the older cover more. It’s kind of cute, although I do see what you mean. I’d like the newer cover more - but the woman in the dress just doesn’t fit. Or maybe it’s the dress. I don’t know. Personally I think it’s too jarring - though it probably fits the book itself more. :X I haven’t read Ms. Raye’s matchmaker series.
As covers go however, neither are bad. There are times I wonder what an author would say about their cover, or what they’d like to change (or keep).

I do like the second cover better, though I’m not sure it fits in wih the feel of the series. It seems a littl too…noir or something. But I don’t care for the other cover at all. Plus it feels too Sookie Stackhouse, and I don’t like it when it looks like copycat covers.

I think the new cover is much better!

I like both, and both draw the eye. However, I would pick up the first (older) cover before I would the second because it hints at humor in the book.
