How Much?
I’m always intrigued about how people spend their book money. There is a copy of YOUR MOUTH DRIVES ME CRAZY on ebay for $8.00 + $3.00 in shipping. This is for a used copy. Isn’t that a lot of money for a used copy when you can buy a new copy online at B&N or Amazon for about the same amount if you have a membership?
Better yet, if money is an issue then wait for the mass market version. It’s coming in March ‘09 (in publishing time that means late February ‘09) and is less expensive than the used one. And you get this cool new cover, which is even prettier in person:

I’ll bet it’s not a lot of money to the overseas bidders, where books sell for anywhere from $20 to $35 depending on mass market or trade!

Oh… Didn’t think of that. Good point.
Still, they should buy a new copy so I can get my $.03 per copy royalty.

Wait for the mass market? What are you, crazy? No, we buy the trade and then, if you’re like me, it sits in the TBR pile until the mass market is available, at which point we realize we are VERY behind in our reading.
Hmm, not sure I like referring to myself as We…

Cindy, when you say “we,” maybe you’re speaking for the rest of us
We’ll just elect you honorary readers-spokeswoman
That is a pretty cover, HelenKay!

I don’t care what they say-I like my own new copy of a book. Sometimes I purchase a book on the Bargain table but those are usually the bestseellers that have been reduced.
Somone asked me recently “What do you do?” and I said “I am doing my part in keeping the economy going-I buy clothes and books”.

I have bought many of Brava’s mass market books because the price is so much less plus Walmart often has them and they are even cheaper there so I can buy more books.

Cindy - You should buy the mass market version as well. Don’t you want a matching set…?
Fedora - Thank you. The purple is softer is person. It’s quite lovely.
Joye - Now that’s the sort of thing I love to hear!!!
Maureen - Smart woman. If I weren’t so lazy and could get off my butt to go to Walmart, I’d do the same thing.
Walmart’s book department is amazing. The folks there can be a little odd about which books they buy and put out. I’m hoping YMDMC gets on the Walmart shelves.

I like to have a nice, new book I can hold in my hands to read…..and that’s why I don’t like ebooks even tho I have an eBookMan. And when I finish reading a book it looks as new as the day I bought it….I take very good care of my books.

I think I like this cover better than the trade-size.

Ok, I can’t remember what te difference is, please telll me.
I have seen that about books on ebay, but if it is not available to someone for whatever reason, then it’s not high to them. Me, I like to get my item right away, so the stores are my friends.

What’s really weird? BAMM just started offering used book through sellers on their website, ALL the books I’ve looked up were more expensive used than new. The new MM release is good for someone like me, who let someone else borrow the trade size and NEVER GOT IT BACK.

I think it depends on if people are buying the book or not. I’ve never understood buying a new book when you can get the same thing for less, *and* with free shipping if you buy it directly. Of course, overseas I guess there is a difference.
Time to befriend someone “state-side.”

nice ocvover, love purple.

Yeah I’m with Cindy. I am all about instant gratification, so I can’t wait for mm. I shell out the $14 or so to get the release right away. Especially Bravas - they’ll get read immediately.

Hmm, HelenKay, good point.

I agree with you. That price is way to high. I’m a reseller for Amazon, B&N, & also eHarliquin . I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ve sold some of your books through my sites.
Yes romance books are my niche. My family calls me “Kriss the reader” because I always have a book in my hand or with me.
My immediate family know I tune out everything when I’m reading - so don’t ask mom a question because she won’t hear you.
Hope you have a month.

I would definitely rather have a new book if I’m going to be paying that much for a book.
