How To Handle A Bad Review
I’m not a huge fan of Brad Meltzer’s books, but I thought this was pretty clever. When his new book, the book he always wanted to write - BOOK OF LIES - got bad reviews, Meltzer did this video using members of his kid’s soccer team, his grandma and her friends. The guy has a sense of humor.
Yeah, I’m buying the book now.

Oh, my gosh. That’s funny! Love it.

I love it! What a clever spin. Good for him.

That’s hysterical. It definitely makes me want to go out and get the book just to see if there’s as much humor in it as there is in the video - even if the book is “juvenile”. lol
What a great way to deal with bad reviews.

Aweee… him talking to his grandmother was so cute! I don’t know about the “hate” - it’s always iffy coming from the author, but yeah, some of those reviews were brutal.
And - that’s such a clever trailer - good for him. He’s definitely got a great handle on publicity and spin.

I have to say, I might have to go buy that book now too.

I’m going to have to check this book out. Any author that can poke fun at a bad review instead of going off? Yeah, I have to look him up! *G*

What a great way to turn bad reviews into a plus!

I love it! It is very refreshing.

That actually made me laugh!
I guess thick skin and an ability to poke fun at yourself are an asset in the writing biz…

I haven’t read any of his books, but the video makes me want to give one a shot. Will have to check him out in the future.

I also agree with the other comments and think - someone with that humor and wit in real life must translate some of that in his writing. I’m going to look for his book as well.

I laughed out loud. Good for him! I think I’ll check his books out next time I’m out.

What a hoot and what a unique promo. Will have to read it now too. I have read several of his books and have enjoyed them, especially Dead Even where the husband and wife attorneys face each other in court and are each being told if they don’t win their case, their spouse will die. Cannot remember how it plays out, but it was a good book. Did you read that one HelenKay? If so, being an attorney, what did you think?

Wow, good for him!! That makes me much more likely to give his books a chance, unlike a few authors whose work I’ll never touch with a zillion-foot pole now…

Loved the video, great way to make fun of the reviews and promo his book at the same time. I’ll have to check his books out next time I’m in the bookstore. Thanks!
