I’m blogging at Access Romance today and talking about the two years since I moved to California. That was two years ago today.

Click on the image below and you’ll see that HOT AS HELL is on the Kindle Top Movers & Shakers list for the week ending November 8th. Wahoo!! Huge thanks to all who bought it.
Two books arrived over the weekend. I want to read them but am concentrating on writing instead. One is CRASH INTO ME by my friend Jill Sorenson. Jill and I live near each other and both belong to the San Diego RWA chapter. When the ARC of her upcoming single title landed on my doorstep on Saturday I admit I let out a little squeal of joy on her behalf. The other book is TOO FAR GONE by Marliss Melton. She’s one of those man, I’ve been meaning to read her authors. I think that every single time I see her name. Looks as if my time has come.
Check out the books:
Though he’d gone into virtual seclusion, Ben Fortune was still the world’s most famous surfer, known as much for his good looks as for his skill. He’s also a suspect in a series of brutal murders that may have begun with his late wife. Now FBI Special Agent Sonora “Sonny” Vasquez has been sent undercover to the elite beach community of La Jolla to make friends with Fortune. With her fierce beauty and take-no-prisoners attitude, she’s more than equipped for the job, and soon she and Ben have collided in an affair that is both intense and irresistible. But for the first—and worst—time in Sonny’s career, her emotions are threatening to get the better of her. Could this sensual, wounded man, who is genuinely anguished over his troubled daughter, really be a killer? And could falling in love blind Sonny to the greatest danger of all?
And…
Ellie Stuart’s life ended the day her children were stolen from her. Driving on a Virginia backroad, Ellie was ambushed by two men who violently pulled her from her car and drove off with her three sons inside. Devastated, Ellie begs the police to bring her babies home. But the authorities wonder if this stressed-out single mom may not be telling the whole truth about what happened that day…
Navy SEAL Sean Harlan agrees to help Ellie find her children, but vows to keep their relationship professional. He’s got no room in his life for a woman and her kids–no matter how beautiful she is, or how desperate their situation. But when a sinister organization begins pulling strings behind the scenes, the investigation suddenly targets Sean. Can he and Ellie rescue her children and save themselves? Or are they already…
Don’t they sound good? Very excited.
We have out-of-town guests who are here looking at houses because their move to San Diego is in the 99% going happen category. I have a book due in a week and many pages left to write. All in all, this will not be a restful weekend. Hope you all have fabulous plans…and are better at scheduling than I am.
SONGS FOR THE MISSING by Stewart O’Nan.
Here’s the copy from the publisher:
It was the summer of her Chevette, of J.P. and letting her hair grow. It was also the summer when, without warning, popular high school student Kim Larsen disappeared from her small midwestern town. Her loving parents, her introverted sister, her friends and boyfriend must now do everything they can to find her. As desperate search parties give way to pleading television appearances, and private investigations yield to personal revelations, we see one town’s intimate struggle to maintain hope and, finally, to live with the unknown.
This is the first book I plan to buy when the one I’m writing is finished, which better be by November 15th since that’s when the contract says it needs to be done. The plan is to read this before starting to write my novella that’s due January 1st. Christmas…yeah, that’s going to be a bit harder to fit in this year. But book reading is something for which I can squeeze in a little time.
For those not suffering from election burn-out, I’m over at the Brava Blog today holding a contest.
The newest round of the 70 Days of Sweat Challenge is about to start again. You can get the details here. The main thing to know is that we start November 10th and go through January 26th. Yeah, technically that’s more than 70 days because we’re making some allowance for the holidays.
This Challenge is meant to motivate you (and us) to get writing. No pressure. Just support. If you want to write and are looking for something to get you going, check it out.
Halloween is over, which is good because it’s my least favorite holiday. I just don’t get it.
For my U.S. friends, Election Day is almost here. For those still trying to decide whether or not to vote…what the hell is the matter with you? Maybe this will help:
