It’s the end of the year and, therefore, the time for everyone to write up a list of the Best Books of 2008. Stephen King set his out in Entertainment Weekly this week. It looks like this:
1. The books of Robert Goddard
2. The Garden of Last Days, Andre Dubus III
3. When Will There Be Good News?, Kate Atkinson
4. The Tenderness of Wolves, Stef Penney
5. Nixonland, Rick Perlstein
6. Heartsick and Sweetheart, Chelsea Cain
7. Hollywood Crows, Joseph Wambaugh
8. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Stieg Larsson
9. Old Flames, Jack Ketchum
10. The Good Guy, Dean Koontz
I’ve read #2, #3 and both in #6. Thought about getting #8 and then didn’t…not sure why. Usually I haven’t read most of the books on King’s list. This is a better than average year.

by TAMI blackroze37 December 6th, 2008 at 6:14 pmOh, gee, I haven’t read ANY of these. I guess Stephen and I just don’t like the same kinds of books!
by cheryl c. December 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pmLike Tami, I’ve only heard of Dean Koontz’ book. Totally different taste than Mr. King, it’s obvious.
by Stacy ~ December 8th, 2008 at 4:29 amJust finished Stephen King’s *On Writing* and I have to say I did a better job with his suggested reading list there. I’ve read NOTHING on this list! Been dancing around *Girl With the Dragon Tattoo* but just got sidetracked with Germaine Greer’s *Shakespeare’s Wife* and— all right, I’ll admit it— *Twilight.* Book club’s reading it…
