I saw this foreign cover over the weekend. The title translates as Dangerous Game. Can you guess the book?

I had to translate the blurb to figure it out. It’s this:

Try to figure out if I should post all of my foreign covers. Do you guys like seeing those?

This week’s theme is “an author favorite scene” and, man, do I have a bunch of those. Since my second Harlequin Intrigue, NIGHT MOVES, officially comes out Tuesday (June 8th – and, yes, you should go buy it), I thought I’d pick a scene from that one.

Liam didn’t know Maura’s level of experience, but he assumed she was slim in that department. She went to college before she could drive, got her doctorate degrees before she could legally drink. That sort of detachment from her age group had an impact.
But, damn, the woman could kiss. The way her arms folded around him and her fingers brushed up his back, he knew she wasn’t afraid. For a few seconds her focus was on him and he wasn’t about to let that get past him.
Sliding along the sheets, he moved down until his lips found her jaw. He kissed in a line until his mouth hovered at the base of her neck. Her skin smelled like flowers. It was the same scent that hit him when she threw the bathroom door open earlier. He didn’t know what was in those motel bottles, but it turned to sweetness on the rounded tops of her breasts.
She switched from skimming her fingers through his hair to yanking on a few strands. “Smithfield Enterprises,” she mumbled against his lips.
From the combination of tugging and nonsense words, his head shot up. “What did you say?”
“That’s it.”
Even in the darkness he could see her bright smile. But that didn’t mean he had any idea what was happening. “What the hell are you talking about?”
She shoved against his shoulders. “Get up.”
She had to be kidding. Had to. “Now?”
Her face went blank when she lifted her hips and pressed her lower body hard against his. “Oh.”
“Yeah, oh.”
She bit on her lower lip. “You’re a good kisser.”
“Apparently not good enough to keep your mind from traveling all over the place.” And boy did that piss him off.
“But you did it.”
“No, but I was trying to.”
She waved off his concerns. At this distance, she actually smacked her hand against his chin by accident. “It was something you said.”
“My mouth was busy doing something other than talking.”
“Uh, yeah.” She swallowed and looked like she took a smile with it.
He couldn’t believe she didn’t notice how serious he was. “Let me get this straight. We were all over each other, kissing and touching and getting into it, and you’re stopping to talk about your boss.”
She gnawed on her lower lip. “Is that weird?”
He shifted his weight, feeling each warmed muscle groan in frustration as his body left hers. “A little bit, but strangely I’m not surprised.”

The first SciFi/Futuristic romance I remember reading was the novella Roarke’s Prisoner by Angela Knight. It was in one of the Secrets anthologies put out by Red Sage Publishing. Last year I found Lauren Dane’s series – The Federation Series – and fell in love. Check out the cover for Book #3, INSATIABLE, and see if you can resist it.
Yesterday I found an upcoming release in this genre by a debut author. The book is ENEMY WITHIN by Marcella Burnard.

After a stint in an alien prison torpedoes her military career, Captain Ari Idylle has to wonder why she even bothered to survive. Stripped of her command and banished to her father’s scientific expedition to finish a PhD she doesn’t want, Ari never planned to languish quietly behind a desk. But when pirates commandeer her father’s ship, Ari once again becomes a prisoner.
Pirate leader Cullin Seaghdh may not be who he pretends to be but as far as Cullin is concerned, the same goes for Ari. Her past imprisonment puts her dead center in Cullin’s sights and if she hasn’t been brainwashed and returned as a spy, then he’s convinced she must be part of a traitorous alliance endangering billions of lives. Cullin can’t afford the desire she fires within him and he’ll stop at nothing, including destroying her, to uncover the truth.
Now, I have to be honest and say I don’t love this cover. It’s a bit over the top for me. But I’m intrigued by the plot and am very excited to get this.
Anyone else like SciFi/Futuristic romance? If so, any you would recommend while I wait on this one?

I am countdown mode to the release of my second Intrigue, NIGHT MOVES. The book comes out next Tuesday, June 8th.
It is about a brilliant scientist heroine and an unemployed cop hero. Sound like they have nothing in common? In a lot of ways they don’t but they’re a bit too busy trying to stay alive and figure out what they feel for each other to figure that out.
If you like fires, chases, gun battles, false accusations and some handy work with a stun gun, this is for you. It’s also about two people who have known each other for years and failed to really see each other.
Admit it, you’re intrigued…
And you can win a copy! The fabulous folks over at Access Romance are giving away a copy. Go over and check it out.

I am blogging at the Brava website and talking about IMPULSIVE, my November Brava release. It stars Eric Kimura (who had a small role in HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO) and a wild child named Katie Long who drags this good boy to the dark side.
And let’s gaze at this lovely cover one more time, shall we?

Late last year Lori Foster asked if I wanted to be a part of a charity anthology. Easiest answer ever: yes!! I love a great cause and this is one. The proceeds from THE GIFT OF LOVE go to the Conductive Learning Center of Greater Cincinnati to help kids with spina bifida and cerebral palsy.

Families come in many configurations, and every one is unique, made up of the personalities of each member. But the love that connects families is universal. Whether it is the love of parents for their children, the love between a husband and wife, the love between siblings, a love that transcends generations, or even the love for a family member never met, the family ties that bind us are the strongest and deepest emotional connections we experience. Families influence a person’s development, how they treat others, and how they view life. In The Gift of Love, eight exceptional writers offer a variety of unique perspectives on what family love means and how it impacts our lives in ways profound and often surprising.
Featuring:
Lori Foster • Heidi Betts • Jules Bennett • Ann Christopher • Lisa Cooke • Paige Cuccaro • Gia Dawn • HelenKay Dimon
Go buy a bunch of copies.
