Release Day!!!

It’s release day!!! THE ENFORCER is out and I’m so excited. This is the second book in the Games People Play series. It completely stands alone. You don’t need to read THE FIXER first, but please do.

Security expert Matthias Clarke hunts down people who don’t want to be found. His latest prey: the sole survivor of a massacre that killed his brother years ago. Kayla Roy claimed she was a victim of the carnage. Then she disappeared. Matthias thinks Kayla may have actually been the killer—and he wants justice.

Kayla Roy never stays in one place too long and never lets a man get too close. But keeping Matthias at arm’s length may be impossible. Dark and enigmatic, Matthias draws Kayla in from the start. She knows nothing about his connection to her dark past, or his thirst for vengeance. She only knows their attraction feels overpowering—and very dangerous.

Matthias’s suspicions about the sensual Kayla clash with his instinct to protect her, especially when he realizes her life is in danger. But Kayla’s not looking for a savior—especially one who seems hell-bent on tempting her down a lethal path.

Stranded Excerpt

How about a short snippet from STRANDED while everyone rushes off for Thanksgiving fun (and starts cooking)…

“You’re begging for me to go after you. You want me to launch the first strike.”

Brax stood up, meeting Cabe face-to-face. “You want to fight and take your revenge. I get it.”

“I liked you better when you were dead.”

The verbal blow bounced off Brax. He’d suffered so much worse. Growing up gay in a community that rejected him, fighting off a long line of attackers over the years . . . watching the blood slowly seep out of Cabe as his dark eyes closed. Yeah, words didn’t bother him. Cabe’s indifference did, so Brax welcomed a fight. Any sign of life or interest would be good.

RWA Conference Booksigning

This is what the booksigning looked like at the RWA conference Wednesday night:

There were approximately six billion people there…or so it felt like. Thank you to all the wonderful readers, reviewers, bloggers, fellow authors and librarians who stopped by to say hello. I learned a few things: (1) many of you are as excited for the October release of MINE as I am; (2) when I talk about Bad Boys Undercover series from Avon and say “this series features undercover alpha dudes who are trained to protect” some of your eyes light up and I LOVE that; (3) some of you are naughty…and l love that, too; and, (4) some of you want your books in print no matter what (and I get that). It was a thrill to meet all of you & to sign so many books. I love selling books for charity.

Book Purchase!

I just bought this book called DAY FOUR. Reading this will pretty much guarantee that I never step foot on a cruise. Read the cover blurb and you’ll see why:

Hundreds of pleasure-seekers stream aboard The Beautiful Dreamer cruise ship for five days of cut-price fun in the Caribbean sun. On the fourth day, disaster strikes: smoke roils out of the engine room, and the ship is stranded in the Gulf of Mexico. Soon supplies run low, a virus plagues the ship, and there are whispered rumors that the cabins on the lower decks are haunted by shadowy figures. Irritation escalates to panic, the crew loses control, factions form, and violent chaos erupts among the survivors.

When, at last, the ship is spotted drifting off the coast of Key West, the world’s press reports it empty. But the gloomy headlines may be covering up an even more disturbing reality.

See??? Yeah, check back later today on my Facebook Page for a giveaway. I need to recover from the blurb first.

A Conversation & Contest With Jill Shalvis

My dear friend Jill Shalvis and I both have novella releases this month. We got together to talk about the books and the couples in them. You can check it out here and over on Jill’s blog HERE.

Before we get started, I thought it might be good for you to see inspiration photos we each used for our heroes. Here’s Jill’s for her hero Sawyer in MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY:

She’s so subtle. Here’s my inspiration for Ward in RUNNING HOT:

New Cover!

I forgot to show off a new cover!!! This is for FALLING HARD, the second single title (3rd book because the first is a novella), in the Bad Boys Undercover series from Avon. I think we can agree he looks kind of badass. Here’s the back cover copy:

falling hard

After a grueling assignment with the black ops force known as the Alliance, Weston Brown is craving downtime. Instead, he’s pulled into his deadliest operation, in the one place he never wanted to see again. No-nonsense and so damn hot, Lexi Turner lied to get him to her mountain clinic in Pakistan. But the threat is terrifyingly real.

Lexi has been asking too many questions, drawing the wrong kind of attention. As soon as she lays eyes on West, she can tell he’s quiet—yet tough—and has a rescue complex which will come in handy for going up against the world’s most ruthless gunrunners.

Cut off from the rest of the Alliance, Lexi and West navigate the brutal terrain and a primal sexual attraction. Sticking around has never been West’s way, but now he’ll use every resource to keep Lexi by his side, safe from a killer who leaves no loose ends behind.

You can pre-order from many places, including Amazon or B&N or iBooks (click on the store names).

Each single title thereafter then features a new couple with the hero being a member of Alliance. PLAYING DIRTY takes place in DC, Paris and London. FALLING HARD takes place mostly in Pakistan and near the base of K2, the 2nd highest mountain in the world. Books three…isn’t written yet. It will be out in September 2015. Stay tuned for more information on that one.

What I’m Ordering

I’m a big fan of books with secrets. I’m also a big fan of author Heather Gudenkauf. She has a book coming out called LITTLE MERCIES and I just pre-ordered it. Check it out:

little mercies

Veteran social worker Ellen Moore has seen the worst side of humanity—the vilest acts one person can commit against another. She is a fiercely dedicated children’s advocate and a devoted mother and wife. But one blistering summer day, a simple moment of distraction will have repercussions that Ellen could never have imagined, threatening to shatter everything she holds dear, and trapping her between the gears of the system she works for.

Meanwhile, ten-year-old Jenny Briard has been living with her well-meaning but irresponsible father since her mother left them, sleeping on friends’ couches and moving in and out of cheap motels. When Jenny suddenly finds herself on her own, she is forced to survive with nothing but a few dollars and her street smarts. The last thing she wants is a social worker, but when Ellen’s and Jenny’s lives collide, little do they know just how much they can help one another.

A powerful and emotionally charged tale about motherhood and justice, Little Mercies is a searing portrait of the tenuous grasp we have on the things we love the most, and of the ties that unexpectedly bring us together.

This is NOT a romance but if you’re interested you can check out reviews and such HERE.

FAQs About Lawless

In keeping with the brand new tradition of providing background information on new releases, here’s some on LAWLESS, book #5 in the Corcoran Team series. Each book stands alone, so they can be read out of order, but the books do share common characters.

Some facts:

1. The hero in LAWLESS, Joel Kidd, first made an appearance in an earlier Intrigue called COPY THAT. His backstory about being branded a traitor to his old team happened in that book. I ended up loving Joel Kidd and wanted to know more about him, so when the Weeks brothers broke off to join Corcoran (they are also in COPY THAT), Joel went with them.

2. The heroine, Hope Algier, is an archery expert and an overall outdoorsy type. As a result, I spent a lot of time researching archery. I’d been wanting to write a book centered in the woods and when the idea of a corporate camping retreat camp into my head, Hope was born and, well, she just seemed like the type who would have a special skill.

3. In my head Hope looks like actress Ashley Greene. This is the photo I gave to the people at Harlequin to help in designing the cover:

4. For Joel, I gave the Harlequin art department this photo of model Marco Dapper…isn’t he cute?

Saturday Snippet

Today is an “author choice” day, so I thought I’d give you a peek at FEARLESS, the first book in a new Harlequin Intrigue miniseries. The hero, Davis Weeks, made an appearance in COPY THAT last year. Now he gets his own story. He hasn’t seen ex-fiancée Lara in months. In the span of ten minutes she shows up on his doorstep, an attacker follows her, Davis takes the guy down and now Davis and Lara are figuring out what to do next.

Less than ten minutes later they slipped through the kitchen and out the back door. Lara watched as Davis caught the screen before it could slam shut. Always thinking and rarely unprepared. That’s how she thought about him, and her mind wandered there often.

They hurried across the porch, the boards creaking under her sensible pumps. His sneakers didn’t make a noise. It was as if he placed each step with precision, including his run down the four steps to the muddy square of a backyard.

Her gaze focused on his butt. Not a bad focal point and certainly less scary than looking up into the eyes of another attacker. Two were enough for one day. Davis also made the staring easy. He had put on jeans and a T-shirt and carried a bag Lara wanted to believe was loaded down with clothes and essentials like shampoo but probably only contained weapons. He did love his big-boy toys, but at least he had clothes on now.
